What You Need to Know Before Surgery

Dr. Yearsley and your patient care team will give you specific instructions about what to do before your surgery to ensure that you are ready for the procedure. While the instructions will vary with each patient, generally you should be off all medication, including prescription and over-the-counter products, for a specified time prior to your surgery. Please provide a complete list of everything you are taking, including any nutritional supplements and any natural or alternative medicines as well as prescriptions or over-the-counter medications.

If you are a smoker, you will be advised to stop smoking before the surgery and to abstain from smoking for a specified period following your procedure. This is extremely important, as smoking interferes with your body's natural healing process.

Please do not bring any jewelry or valuables with you to the Surgicenter or hospital for your procedure. Wear loose, comfortable clothing including a button down shirt and soft, low-heeled shoes that are easy to slip on.
